Ti’ Punch/Ti’ Punch Vieux

Ti” Punch/Ti’ Punch Vieux - This paean to the Island of Martinique and the fresh and funky Rhum Agricole is simplicity personified. Lime, sugar and Rhum. These three staples are present in a multitude of cocktails, but the Ti’ Punch Vieux is the traditional way to express the freshness of a superior Agricole Rhum, like J.M. RHUM VIEUX AGRICOLE VSOP ,This Rhum, aged 3 years in re-charred Bourbon barrels and finishing the rhum an additional year in lightly toasted new American oak barrels and finally reduced to 43 % ABV with pure volcanic spring water. When you are in Martinique, they will often just give you a bottle, lime and some Martinique sugarcane syrup and you can build it yourself. When they set it in front of you they may say, chacun prépare sa propre mort ("each prepares their own death"). Get started!!

In an Old Fashioned glass, add the sugarcane syrup and rhum. Swizzle with a Lélé. Squeeze a lime end or round over the drink and drop it in the glass. Enjoy! No more recipe needed! Simple elegance! Bonne chance!
